Joe Baker

Spine Surgeon:
I completed medical school at the University of Otago (1996-2003) before training in Orthopaedic Surgery in the Republic of Ireland. I have sub specialised in Spine Surgery, completing fellowships at NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases and Auckland City Hospital (2015-2016).

Steve McChesney

Orthopaedic Surgeon:
I was born in Pukekohe, grew up in Papakura, and first moved to the Waikato in late 1997 as a Trainee Intern. After finishing my undergraduate medical degree at the University of Auckland in 1998 I developed an interest in orthopaedic surgery and completed the New Zealand Orthopaedic Association training scheme in 2007.

Carl Jones

Upper Limb Surgeon:
I was born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa and completed my undergraduate training at the University of the Witwatersrand (2002) before moving to South West London to continue with my orthopaedic training. I gained my Certificate of Completion of Training with the Royal College of Surgeons (UK) in 2015. 

Practice Management Team

Our friendly practice management team have a wealth of experience in medical practices both in Hamilton and further afield. Fiona and Carlien understand that seeking specialist advice regarding a medical condition or preparing for surgery can be a stressful life event, and they are dedicated to ensuring this process at Midland Orthopaedics and Spine is as smooth and relaxed as possible.  The team are happy to be your first point of contact for any non-clinical queries including scheduling appointments, clarifying arrangements for upcoming surgery, and billing enquiries. They are readily available during business hours and can be contacted via phone or email.

Referrals accepted from a healthcare professional including GP, specialist or physiotherapist.

Clinical Nurse Specialist

Karen is a vastly experienced registered nurse who has developed a special interest in orthopaedic care. For over a decade she has worked closely with orthopaedic surgeons in the operating theatre and in their rooms. Depending on the nature of your condition, Karen may be an integral part of your care plan in the operating theatre or at the rooms.
